Comforted by Community Worker Bernice Hall at his home in Glen Innes, Auckland, Aung Win Thaung breaks down. He spent much of his life on the run from the authorities in his home country of Burma as a result of fighting for democracy before fleeing his home country. A UN Refugee, he found his way to New Zealand where he was housed next to what local police hearsay claims is the most prolifically violent address in the area. His house has been attacked and his car vandalised while he is at home, culminating in a large kitchen knife being stabbed through his door. Aung Win has received some help from local services and the police and security lights were fitted to his home sporadic abuse from neighbours continues. 26Jul05 © SNL 05 James Madelin.
